Our Philosophy

A Patient-Centered Approach
Advanced Wellness employs a rare patient-centered approach, grounded on the concept that your experience with us goes beyond the physical healing. From your first phone call through completion of your program, our approach encompasses placing your needs and comforts first.

In addition, we believe in full communication. You, your physician, employer and/or insurer can receive periodic progress reports. As our patient, you are kept informed of your condition, as well as short- and long-term goals.

Pain Relief + Stabilization + Strength = Advanced Wellness

At Advanced Wellness of Marlboro, we believe in providing you with 3 phases of care for optimal mobility and musculo-skeletal health.

Phase 1. Pain Relief

Our initial goal is to reduce your pain/symptoms as quickly as possible. This phase of care can range from several days to a few weeks. During this phase, it is essential that you do not miss appointments (if you do, we urge you to make them up). You will be given specific instructions on how to reduce the chance of re-injury. This will include some gentle home stretches and techniques on proper body mechanics to employ during your regular daily activities. This may feel awkward at first – that's normal – but proper posture and mechanics will continue to serve you well into your future!

Phase 2: Stabilization

The goal of this phase is to stabilize the weakened area and prepare you for strengthening. During this phase, we will more specifically target abnormal postures, spinal or joint misalignments, and tight and weak muscles. This phase will also include specific exercises and stretches tailored to reduce and eliminate your specific problems. We will continue to challenge you in this phase based on your ability and tolerance.

Phase 3: Strength

The objective of this phase is to strengthen the muscles at all angles so you are no longer predisposed to injury when performing certain activities that are part of your daily life. Although by this phase you should be feeling fairly well, this is the most important step. As a result of your injury, muscles tend to weaken or atrophy around the joints (for example, when a broken bone rests immobile in a cast for several weeks, the encased area is smaller and weaker upon removal of the cast). Thus, this phase includes challenging the injured area with strengthening exercises at various angles that simulate real-life movements (such as swinging a golf club, picking up and carrying children, and doing housework) – this is also known as functional training.
