The Zero Recovery Time
Surgery for Carpal Tunnel
What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a condition of the hand and wrist that causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and arm. CTS is caused when the main nerve in the hand—the median nerve—is compressed as it travels through the wrist. The median nerve controls strength, movement and sensation in the thumb and first three fingers. Symptoms in the hand can also be caused by compressed nerves in the neck so this needs to be ruled out with an examination or a specific nerve test called an Electromyograph ( EMG) or Nerve Conduction Velocity ( NCV) test.

Common Symptoms
- Numbness, tingling, burning, and pain in the thumb and index, middle, and ring fingers.
- Shooting or shock like sensations that radiate to the thumb and index, middle, and ring fingers.
- Pain or tingling that may travel from the wrist or forearm toward the shoulder.
- Weakness in the hand.
Treatment options
There are non-surgical options that include splinting, exercise therapy, stretches, and avoiding activities that can aggravate this condition. In more severe cases, a minor surgery that releases pressure off the nerve can remedy the condition. The latest MicroKnife procedure takes less than 15 minutes and has a very fast recovery time. Most patients are back to normal function in a few days.
