Dr. Michael Cunningham received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Columbia University where he graduated with honors. He received his M.D. degree at New York University School of
Medicine. After receiving his M.D., Dr. Cunningham completed residency training in orthopaedics at Texas Tech University. Dr. Cunningham served on active duty as a major with the United States Air Force where he also served as orthopaedic consultant to the Air Combat Command SurgeonGeneral. He received two medals of commendation during his service.
Dr. Cunningham has served the local community for over 25 years in a private orthopaedic practice. He performs arthroscopies, joint replacements, and fracture care, as well as non-surgical management of orthopedic injuries. He is recognized for his dedication to quality orthopaedic care. Dr. Cunningham is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Amercian Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine as well as numerous other professional associations. He has board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a subspecialty board certification in Sports Medicine.
